Senior Scientist in Microbiology who will work at the intersection of bioinformatics, microbiology, and microbiome therapy development. This role is critical to advancing our therapeutic pipeline by applying mbiomics’ proprietary microbiome profiling technology to biological and clinical samples, identifying keystone bacteria, and translating data into actionable insights for product design. The ideal candidate will hold a PhD in microbiology, bring strong expertise in microbiome research and bioinformatic-based methods, and combine hands-on microbiology experience with a collaborative, solution-oriented mindset.
Job description
- Your primary tasks will be at the interface of bioinformatics, microbiology, and microbiome therapy development
- Secondary tasks include the identification, characterization, and mapping of keystone bacteria and metabolic pathways from clinical data
- You will apply mbiomics’ microbiome profiling technology to biological and clinical samples
- Your work will have a direct impact on the design and specifications of our therapeutic products
- You will be in charge of the evaluation and implementation of the internally developed tools and methods
Requirements
Essential:
- A PhD in microbiology with a significant experience in a field related to microbiome research
- Profound understanding of the microbiome, microbial interactions (bacteria-bacteria; host-bacteria), and metabolic pathways
- Experience in bioinformatic-based analytical methods i.e., metagenomics
- Proven microbiology experience, including cultivation and characterization of bacterial strains
- A passion for novel technologies, especially an interest for the microbiome is a must
- Experience in live bacterial based product development, in particular in the pharma/biotech industry is a plus
- Excellent analytical skills, scientific critical mind, hands-on problem-solving mind-set and‚ can-do-attitude and most importantly, team oriented mindset
- Hands-on experience with bacterial preservation methods, especially lyophilization
Desirable:
- Experience in a biotech startup or other fast-paced research environment.
