Alpine Eagle GMBH

Alpine Eagle GMBH

Karlsruhe, Germany
Posted on Aug 22, 2025

At Alpine Eagle, we are a team of specialists with backgrounds in defence, aerospace engineering and machine learning, building the first airborne, swarm-based system to provide protection against the rising drone threat. We believe that recent conflicts have shown the malicious and disruptive potential of drones in both civilian and defense scenarios. In addition, we are convinced that the next step in counter-drone is air-to-air. We want to ensure that all governments and institutions that believe in personal freedom and the rule of law have cutting edge solutions to protect against this rising threat.

We offer a work environment that is inclusive and open, with a flat hierarchy, and a purpose-driven team. We want to reinforce a culture where great ideas can flourish, and great people collaborate.

The Mission Autonomy Team is driving scalable, intelligent UAV operations on the battlefield. We develop the core technologies behind multi-agent coordination, collision avoidance, guidance, navigation, and flight control — making it easy to operate teams of autonomous systems.

We’re looking for a top-tier (Senior) Guidance, Navigation, and Control Engineer to help us push the limits of autonomy and deliver real-world impact.

🎯 How you will make an impact:

  • Shape the autonomy stack by contributing to the roadmap and developing guidance, navigation, and control algorithms that unlock higher levels of UAV automation.
  • Maximize flight performance through tuning and optimizing flight control systems, ensuring our aircraft fly precisely as required — safely, reliably, and with minimal operator input.
  • Bridge simulation and reality by building high-fidelity SITL simulations, modeling aircraft dynamics, and analyzing flight data to continuously refine behavior.
  • Drive system capability and integration by collaborating closely with teams like Perception and AI to integrate sensor fusion, and contributing to ConOps development through deep insights into flight dynamics.

What you need to be successful:

  • Expertise in guidance, navigation, and control, with a solid understanding of flight mechanics.
  • Degree in a relevant field, such as Computer Science, Engineering, or Mathematics (Master’s or PhD).
  • Strong programming skills, particularly in C++ for real-time applications; experience with Python and ROS is a plus.
  • Experience with PX4 or Ardupilot and an interest in working with open-source flight control software.
  • Practical, hands-on approach, with the ability to prototype and iterate quickly.
  • Comfort working in a dynamic environment, with a mindset geared toward collaboration and continuous improvement.
