YOUR IMPACT
As the Head of Facilities & Infrastructure, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the physical foundation of Proxima Fusion’s mission: building the world’s first stellarator-based fusion power plant. You will lead site selection and development for Alpha, our flagship stellarator, while driving the establishment of advanced R&D and manufacturing facilities across Europe. This is a high-impact role where your leadership will directly enable the scaling of fusion technology from cutting-edge science to commercial clean energy.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Lead identification, evaluation, and selection of the Alpha stellarator site, balancing scientific, regulatory, operational, and commercial considerations.
Oversee design, planning, and construction of the Alpha site, including experimental halls, power and cooling infrastructure, cryogenic systems, shielding, and remote handling.
Spearhead development of advanced manufacturing and testing facilities across Europe to support in-house component production.
Manage contracts, budgets, and timelines for capital infrastructure projects while engaging public authorities, utility providers, engineering firms, and construction partners.
Establish scalable frameworks for facilities management, compliance, maintenance, and EHS standards across all sites.
Partner with leadership, engineering, and regulatory teams to align infrastructure decisions with our technical and strategic roadmap.
Build and lead a high-performing facilities & infrastructure team to support Proxima’s growth.
WHO YOU ARE
10+ years of experience in capital infrastructure development, facilities engineering, construction management, or related fields.
Proven track record delivering multi-year, multi-million euro industrial or scientific infrastructure projects.
Strong experience with cross-border infrastructure programs, including regulatory and cultural complexities.
Technical degree (engineering, physics, architecture, or related); advanced degree a plus.
Familiarity with regulatory frameworks for nuclear-adjacent or high-risk installations is a significant asset.
Fluent in English and German.
You thrive in high-ownership, fast-paced environments with ambitious timelines and limited precedent.
You combine engineering literacy with commercial and strategic thinking, and can engage effectively with governments, real estate developers, public utilities, and internal technical stakeholders.
