Here is why you are going to love this role
At Dcubed, we are literally taking structures and mechanisms to the next level – bringing true, in-space manufacturing (ISM) of large-scale space structures directly to orbit. As a Mechatronics Engineer on the In-Space Manufacturing Team, you will play a key role developing, building, testing, and flying new in-space manufacturing technologies. Your expertise across mechanisms, electrical, and/or control systems will be critical to bringing new ISM print technologies to life, creating new space structures previously thought impossible with traditional mechanical design techniques. These will not simply be paper designs, as you’ll work hands-on in our Dcubed USA facilities to develop, prototype, and manufacture these systems in collaboration with other ISM teammates in Colorado and globally. You’ll assist with the integration of the systems on their path to orbit, where you’ll be a direct part of launching the next revolution in space manufacturing technology.
Responsibilities:
· Lead complex design and development efforts as a member of the US ISM printer team, including mechanical part and assembly design for mechatronic system elements including actuation, drive assemblies and instrumentation.
· Identify and manage key requirements and interfaces for ISM printer to flight avionics systems.
· Design, manufacture and test mechanical and electrical ground support equipment in support of ISM development, testing, and flight integration.
· Support design and manufacturing of electromechanical, pneumatic, and fluid systems.
· Support assembly, integration and test of payloads and payload to spacecraft interfaces.
· Develop assembly and test plans for ISM systems and space structures.
· Perform validation of ISM structures performance through ground and flight test campaigns.
Eligibility Requirements
· Onsite/Hybrid Required: This position is based at our Berthoud, Colorado facility.
· Due to federal regulations under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR), applicants must be U.S. persons. This includes U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents (Green Card holders), and protected individuals as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).
Compensation and Benefits
· Salary range: $90,000 – $140,000 per year (based on experience and qualifications)
· Competitive health insurance (medical, vision, dental)
· Flexible PTO and sick leave
· Generous parental leave
· Hybrid work flexibility when applicable
· Opportunities to grow with a rapidly scaling aerospace company
Equal Opportunity Employer
Dcubed is an Equal Opportunity (EO) employer and recruits, employs, trains, compensates, and promotes regardless of race, religion, color, national origin, sex, disability, age, veteran status, or other protected status under applicable law.

Here is what you bring to the table
  · BS / MS / PhD degree in Engineering (aerospace, mechanical, electrical, mechatronics or a related subject)
· 6+ years of direct experience in space structures and mechanisms with specific experience in electromechanical, control, and/or fluid systems.
· Proficient in 3D CAD (Solidworks) design
· Enthusiasm for being hands-on with rapid prototyping and flight hardware builds.
· Experience with spaceflight hardware and environments.
· Comfortable with performing back-of-the-napkin calculations and analyses to validate design concepts.
Nice to Have Requirements:
· Experience with kinematics modeling and simulation.
· Experience with robotics, programming, and/or electrical circuit design.
· Assembly, Integration and Test Experience.
