In this role, you will play a key part in transforming advanced ultrafast fiber technology from prototype systems into products for industrial and scientific applications. You will work at the intersection of laser physics, nonlinear optics, systems engineering, and product development. You will be responsible for optical design, experimental validation and prototyping, supported by mechanical design, electronics and software engineering teams to develop a robust, market-ready product. Your Tasks:- Development of ultrafast fiber lasers operating at 1μm, 1.5 μm and 2 μm- Development of fiber amplifiers and supercontinuum sources- Characterization of light sources (pulse duration, optical spectra, phase noise, timing jitter)- Technology scouting You are an Expert in:- Ultrafast high power fiber lasers/amplifiers such as EDFA, YDFA and CPA- Nonlinear fiber optics and pulse propagation- Ideally, numerical modeling/simulation of ultrafast fiber oscillators/amplifiers or ultrafast pulses in optical fiber Education and Experience:- MSc in Physics/Laser Technology/Optical Technology with at least 4 years of relevant experience- Fluent in written and spoken English and eager to learn German- PhD highly welcome; opportunities to attend conferences, collaborate with research groups and publish We Offer:- Diverse, fast-paced work environment in a young and dynamic team- Position with room for creativity- Flat hierarchies and quick decision processes- High-tech environment in Science City Hamburg Bahrenfeld
