Job description
ATMOS Space Cargo is seeking an Unmanned Systems Engineer (m/f/d) to support the development and qualification of space-grade systems. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting engineering simulations as well as designing and developing Unmanned Space Systems.
Key responsibilities:
- You will design and develop mechanical and aerospace-related systems and components
- You will create and maintain CAD models, assemblies, and technical drawings using SolidWorks
- You will support the construction, assembly, and integration of prototypes and flight hardware
- You will prepare and optimize 3D print parts, including slicing and printer setup
- You will perform engineering simulations and basic aerodynamic or flight dynamic evaluations
- You will support testing activities, including structural, environmental, and functional tests
- You will assist in troubleshooting, debugging, and improving mechanical systems during development and testing
- You will participate in prototype manufacturing, workshop activities, and hands-on engineering tasks
Profile required
- Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree, technical training, or comparable practical experience in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field
- Good knowledge of CAD construction Software such as SolidWorks
- Basic experience with 3D printing technologies and slicer software
- Basic understanding of flight dynamics and aerodynamics (e.g. glide ratio, stability, control systems)
- Hands-on mentality and practical craftsmanship skills
- Experience with assembly work, soldering, prototyping, or workshop tools is highly desirable
- Structured, analytical, and solution-oriented way of working
- Willingness to take ownership of development and construction cycles
- Ability to work independently and within interdisciplinary engineering teams
- Good written and spoken English skills (German is a plus)
- Motivation to work in a fast-paced engineering and development environment
- European nationality or work authorization within Europe is required
Preferred qualifications:
Good understanding of different engineering materials, manufacturing methods, and their practical applications is a plus
Previous experience working in technical or interdisciplinary engineering teams (e.g. Student Car, Formula Student, rocketry teams, UAV teams, robotics projects, or similar student engineering organizations) is highly valued
Basic understanding of electronics and electrical systems is considered a strong advantage
Interest in aerospace systems, UAVs, or experimental flight systems
German language skills are beneficial but not mandatory
