Job description
ATMOS Space Cargo is seeking a highly motivated Simulation & Test Engineer to support the development and qualification of space-grade systems. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting engineering simulations as well as planning and executing environmental qualification tests, including vibration (shaker), thermal vacuum (TVAC), and radiation testing.
Key responsabilities:
- You will perform engineering simulations to analyze structural, thermal, and environmental behavior of components and systems
- You will support the setup, execution, and evaluation of environmental tests, including: Vibration testing, shaker, Thermal vacuum testing, TVAC, Radiation testing
- You will take primary responsibility for planning and conducting space qualification test campaigns
- You will develop test procedures, test setups, and verification plans in accordance with space standards
- You will analyze test data, interpret results, and generate detailed test reports
- You will collaborate with design, systems, and manufacturing teams to ensure testability and compliance
- You will support failure analysis and troubleshooting during test campaigns
- You will maintain and improve test infrastructure, equipment, and processes
- You will ensure proper documentation, traceability, and compliance with aerospace standards
- You will contribute to continuous improvement of simulation models and test methodologies
Profile required
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related field
- Initial practical experience (internships, university projects, or first job experience) in simulation or testing is a plus, but not mandatory
- Basic understanding of engineering simulations (e.g., FEM, thermal analysis)
- Interest in hands-on testing and experimental engineering work
- Structured and analytical way of working
- Willingness to take ownership of test activities
- Good written and spoken English (German is a plus)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary engineering environment
- European nationality or work authorization within Europe is required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with simulation tools (e.g., Gazebo or similar)
- Exposure to environmental testing (vibration, thermal, vacuum)
- Understanding of space qualification standards (e.g., ECSS)
- Hands-on experience with laboratory or test setups
- Programming or scripting skills (e.g., Python, MATLAB) for data analysis
